About

Power electronics has been evolving into the core technology for humankind's precise and fast control of energy. Nowadays, the overlapping and integration between power electronics and other disciplinary fields becomes a crucial driving force for the development of related fields, and many inter-disciplinary issues in research frontiers await researchers from relevant fields to solve through mutual inspiration and close cooperation.

The Power Electronics Inter-Disciplinary Workshop and Power Electronics Inter-Disciplinary Advanced PhD School initiated and sponsored by Xi’an Jiaotong University will be focusing on the overlapping and integration between power electronics and other disciplinary fields, facilitate the exchanges of research status of frontier issues and the discussions on trends of future development. The detailed power electronics inter-disciplinary topics the workshop covers include power system and smart grid, switch apparatus, high-voltage and insultation techniques, electric materials, components, devices and packaging, heat transfer and energy conversion/transformation.

Workshop Format

The workshop will be carried out in 4 sessions, each covering an inter-disciplinary topic for a half day duration with 4 keynote presentations and one panel discussion. The invited keynote speakers (including IEEE Fellows and emerging young scholars) will introduce latest research achievements, frontier development trends, and their vision about future research directions. After keynotes, there will be a panel discussion for about one hour, where 5-6 young scholars or doctoral students will briefly introduce their proposed research topics and ideas on potential research contents, leading to the comments and discussions. Cultural and social activities will be organized during the workshop as well.

Online Learning Arrangement after the Workshop

The workshop will be fully recorded in video, which will be available online for the participants in the next two weeks to review and discuss.
